Student research papers

On June 19, 2023, the second competition for scientific works organised by ZAB PricewaterhouseCoopers Legal SIA (PwC legal), Competition Council (CC) and Riga School of Law (RJA) in competition law was concluded with presentations of scientific works. In the presence of five finalists and representatives of the evaluation committee, Reinis Ivanovs was recognised as the winner of the competition, receiving a 1000 euro cash prize, internship at the CC and a free participation at the summer School organised by RJI.

The young, creative lawyers and the most diligent competition law students had prepared scientific papers on topics such as mergers in digital markets, violations of dominant companies in the gas market, detection of cartels in Latvia and recovery of losses. Similar to previous year, authors who obtained the highest jury rating in the competition, were invited to present their scientific works to the evaluation committee.

After evaluating all the works and presentations submitted to the competition, the jury unanimously agreed to assign the first place to the Reinis Ivanovs, student of the Faculty of Law of the University of Latvia. The subject chosen by the student concerned the legal aspects of joint liability in case of violation of competition law. The winner of the competition was greeted with a €1,000 cash prize awarded by PwC legal, an internship at the CC and a place at the summer School hosted by RJA.
